There are seasons when we crave certainty—and seasons when we need movement. The Phoenix Pathways Mystery Knit-Along was designed for the latter.

This MKAL is an invitation to step into the process without knowing the destination, to trust the rhythm of your hands, and to let the work unfold one clue at a time. It’s about transformation, curiosity, and the quiet power of making something beautiful without needing to see the whole picture first.

What Is the Phoenix Pathways MKAL?

The Phoenix Pathways MKAL is a multi-clue knitting experience released in stages. Each clue builds on the last, gradually revealing a cohesive, finished piece—without spoilers or shape reveals ahead of time.

You’ll receive:

  • A thoughtfully structured mystery pattern

  • Clues released on a set schedule (see schedule at bottom of post)

  • A design that celebrates color, texture, and progression

  • Optional community spaces for connection and support

Whether you knit quickly or slowly, jump into community conversations or work quietly on your own, this MKAL meets you where you are.

Yarn & Color Play

This MKAL uses six colors. You may choose:

  • Six distinct shades, or

  • A smooth 6-skein fade

Solids, tonals, and variegated yarns all work beautifully.

Choosing yarn is one of my favorite parts of any project. To help you get started, I’ve included several palette inspiration photos in the pattern planning PDF on Ravelry. Use them as a jumping-off point, not a rulebook. If you love your palette, the pattern will honor it. If you’d like help sourcing yarn, I’ve put together a Favorite Dyers page featuring indie makers whose work I truly love and trust. It’s there if you’d like a place to start. (This list is offered as a resource, not a requirement—any yarn you love will work.)

Skill Level

This MKAL is best suited for knitters who are comfortable following written instructions and who enjoy learning through doing. New techniques are introduced thoughtfully, and guidance is provided along the way.

This is not a race. This is not a test—it's a journey.

Adventurous beginners should fare well, with the following techniques & stitches used:

  • Knit and purl

  • Increase and decrease

  • YOs

  • Work multiple instructions into one stitch

  • Slip stitches

  • Pick up and knit stitches

  • Place live stitches on hold

Community & Support

The Phoenix Pathways MKAL is designed to be both communal and low-pressure. Pattern purchasers will have access to a private Facebook group for pattern support and community engagement. Participation there is always optional. Quiet knitters are just as welcome as chatty ones.

Why a Mystery Knit-Along?

Mystery knit-alongs ask something different of us. They invite trust, patience, and curiosity. You don’t need to know the final shape to begin. You don’t need to understand the whole story to take the next step. Sometimes, the most meaningful making happens when we allow ourselves to merely follow a path one stitch at a time.

Join the MKAL

Presales are now open for the Phoenix Pathways Mystery Knit-Along. If you’re craving a project that blends creativity, intention, and discovery—this path is waiting for you.
