Phoenix Pathways: The Full Pattern Release

When I first began designing Phoenix Pathways, I knew I wanted it to be more than just another shawl pattern. I wanted it to be a journey—something that unfolded gradually, revealing its shape and meaning piece by piece as the knitting progressed.
Earlier this year, that journey began as a Mystery Knit-Along (MKAL). Over several weeks, knitters worked through the design together, discovering each new segment as it was released. Watching the shawls grow in so many different color palettes—and seeing the community conversations that emerged around them—was one of the most rewarding parts of that experience.
Now, I’m delighted to share that Phoenix Pathways is available as a standalone pattern.
The full design has been thoughtfully compiled into a single, fully tested and tech-edited PDF. All six segments are presented in order, allowing you to experience the design at your own pace. The reflective themes and story structure remain woven throughout the pattern for those who wish to engage with them.
A Shawl Built in Transformation
Phoenix Pathways is a modular, DK-weight shawl worked one segment at a time—one flame, one transformation after another. Each section builds on the last, gradually shaping the shawl while introducing new textures and color transitions.
Because the design is modular, there is no assembly required. You simply continue from one segment into the next as the shawl grows across your needles. The result is a piece that feels both structured and fluid, with shifting textures and color sections that echo the idea of transformation.
Yarn Requirements
The pattern was designed with color play in mind, making it ideal for fades, curated palettes, or stash combinations.
DK weight yarn
6 colors, approximately 245 yards each
Variegated, tonal, or solid yarns all work beautifully
A 6-skein fade works particularly well
Fingering weight yarn can also be substituted to create a slightly smaller finished shawl.
