New Pattern Release: The Riverstone Tee

I’m so excited to finally say it: the Riverstone Tee is live!

Riverstone is a crochet tee built around contrast—not only in color, but in texture, fiber, and stitch pattern. A richly textured bobble-and-mesh yoke gives way to a simple, drapey body, creating a garment that feels special without being fussy. And one of my favorite things about this design is just how many different Riverstones you can make from the same pattern.

A Little Texture, a Lot of Possibility

The yoke is really the star of Riverstone. Alternating sections of mesh and bobbles create plenty of visual interest and texture, while the body shifts to a much simpler stitch pattern that allows the fabric—and your yarn—to shine.

The original Riverstone was designed using two fingering-weight yarns with very different personalities: a soft merino for the textured yoke and a silk yarn for the body. That combination creates a subtle contrast in both texture and drape. But you certainly don't have to make yours the same way. Use two colors. Use one. Pair different fibers. Dig into your stash and find two yarns that were never intended to meet but somehow belong together. Or work the entire tee in a single yarn and let the change in stitch pattern provide all the contrast.

That's part of the fun.

Designed to Be Worn

As much as I love an interesting crochet stitch, I want the finished garment to be something you'll actually reach for. Riverstone has a simple, relaxed silhouette with cap-style sleeves and a simple, straight body that still has a beautiful drape. The pattern includes eight inclusive sizes, with finished bust circumferences from 34 to 66 inches. Choose a size based on the amount of ease you prefer and the way you want your Riverstone to fit.

Made Better by Testers

One of my favorite parts of the pattern-development process is finally seeing a design interpreted by other makers. Different yarns and colors can completely change the personality of a garment, and the Riverstone testers did exactly that. Their projects showed me just how versatile this little tee could be.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who tested the pattern, worked through the instructions, asked questions, caught things, and trusted me enough to spend their time and yarn bringing Riverstone to life.
